Hello everyone! I’m trying to update my profile and, being french and not using the same terms i have a bit of a pickle with “What types of larp events do you like to attend?” I did try a bit of google-fu before, but some things keep eluding me. Can someone tell me what i got right and what i got wrong?
I think i get what a “Larp Campaign” is, Probably a continuing story from event to event.
Softair larp : According to my research those are Larp with airsoft guns. Does that include those with Nerf too?
Chamber Larp : According to my research, it’s “a short larp which lasts for no longer than a few hours and which takes place in a small, enclosed area”. Is it another way to call Murder Party?
For Modern Larp i have absolutely no clue what those are. Is it related to “Nordic Larp”? And doesn’t “Modern Larp” imply a “Classical/old school Larp” category?Just 4 types seems a bit restrictive.

Maybe I can help you (but you are welcome to give feedback – it’s best to add the types that are missing for you in the beta test section of the forum).
About the types: Campaign: Check
Softair: I wouldn’t see nerf there now – but I’m also undecided🤭
Chamber Larp: the definition is good, I know something like this from cons, for example, where you play several of these short games (and find them much more intense than a crime dinner)
Regarding modern larp: in my understanding, this is the umbrella term that also includes Nordic larp. But here too: I’m not the last word on the subject 😅
You’re definitely not the only person who’s confused, we definitely need to work on that again.

For more feedback i think at least a Mass Larp category should be added (it really is it’s own beast), even though i would definitly not check that box (done that for years, can attest with experience it’s not my cup of tea).
I realize some larp i did would not fall under any of the 4 categrory we have right know XD.1-
@BenCap thanks! Mass Larp means games like ConQuest of Mythodea, doesn’t it?

@Franzi Can’t reply directly to your second reply somehow… that’s weird. But to answer you, yes, Mythodea would be the Ur-exemple of Mass Larp (Big event with a lot a participants, people divided into several camps, etc.)
